Founded in 1884 in Halstead, KS, Sacred Heart Catholic Church serves the people of western and central Harvey County including Halstead, Sedgwick, Burrton, Bentley and Moundridge. We are Catholics of the Diocese of Wichita, Kansas.

1884—Rev. Bernard Schmiehausen erected first Catholic church in Halstead.

1885—Established as a mission.

1890-1897—Rev. George Meyer, pastor

1899-1902—Rev. Joseph Pompeney, pastor

February 17, 1912—Halstead made a parish and received Rev. A. M. Weikmann as its first resident pastor.

April 18, 1917—Church completed at Halstead, under the direction of Rev. A. M. Weikmann, pastor, was dedicated by Bishop Hennessy.
